Assetinsure Pty Ltd is looking for a driven Technical Claims Assessor to lead our Construction Warranty Insurance claims team. In this role, you will oversee home warranty claims, conduct thorough inspections, and provide expert assessments. You will work closely with experienced underwriters to achieve financial goals and ensure exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction, in-depth knowledge of Australian building standards, and excellent communication skills. The key responsibilities will be…

  • Conduct thorough hands-on inspections of construction sites and buildings, identifying and assessing defects with a deep understanding of Australian construction methods, materials, and standards.

  • Leverage expertise from a degree or diploma in a construction-specific or related field to ensure strict compliance with Australian building codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Evaluate Construction Warranty Insurance claims, including Domestic Building Insurance, HBCF, and Builders Indemnity Insurance, across South Australia, NSW, and particularly Victoria, by accurately interpreting and applying Australian insurance policies, coverage limits, and exclusions.

  • Proficiently use assessment tools and software, and effectively read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings in accordance with Australian standards.

  • Stay updated on local and national building regulations, standards, and warranty guidelines in Australia, with a comprehensive understanding of legal aspects related to construction defects and warranty claims under Australian law.

  • Maintain relevant certifications such as Building Inspector (BPB) accreditation or similar credentials recognised in Australia and engage in continuous professional development to keep abreast of industry changes and Australian standards.

  • Ensure adherence to service standards, company guidelines, delegated authority, and SLAs, delivering best practice customer service and technical claims expertise to achieve superior outcomes for both homeowners and the insurer.

  • Review and prepare detailed assessment reports with strong written communication skills, and clearly explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Investigate and identify the root cause of construction defects, recommending practical remedial actions based on thorough analytical findings.

  • Collaborate effectively with the team, sharing information, knowledge, and resources to achieve the best possible outcomes, settle claims within client service instructions, company guidelines, and delegated authority, build and develop external business relationships, and manage complaints effectively to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with company standards.

  • Lead and drive strategy for the CWI product, contributing to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and systems.

  • Mentor and develop junior claims controllers, providing guidance and expertise to enhance their skills and performance.

  • Work closely with leadership to identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement improvements to policies, procedures, and systems to optimise claims handling and overall efficiency.

  • Provide expert advice to the underwriting team on best practices for mitigating claims and for assessing contracts, ensuring that underwriting strategies are aligned with industry standards and aimed at reducing potential liabilities.
