This is a new and key position within Assetinsure to support the significant growth in the Surety business and the high-risk portfolio within that business.

The role will report to the Chief Credit Officer and support the Credit function objectives to prevent / minimise credit losses across the business.

The key responsibilities will be…

  • Manage a portfolio of high-risk Surety accounts, influencing transaction structure and developing and executing remediation strategies to achieve risk mitigation and best recovery result.
  • Manage reserves within expectations such that there are no surprises.
  • In conjunction with Claims department assist in management of “larger” Claims for credit portfolios.
  • To interface with both Assetinsure credit committee and underwriters.
  • To assist with review and sign off of credit submissions (including new business, renewals) etc.
  • To ensure credit underwriting guidelines are being adhered to and deteriorations are picked up early and accounts placed on “credit watch” basis.
  • To work closely with the Chief Credit Officer, Senior Credit Officer and other key stakeholders and business partners to develop strong rapport and assist with regular and comprehensive reporting.

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate/property lending (high risk customers preferred) or insolvency firm with a competency across both quantitative and qualitative analysis. Strong transaction structuring skills, sound credit judgement and highly developed negotiation and influencing skills will also be an advantage for the successful applicant.
  • This individual will be a knowledgeable and experienced executive who is able to implement the strategic vision to provide direction for the Company’s credit activities, while at the same time implementing operational initiatives to enhance policies, procedures and risk management disciplines.
  • Qualified candidates should have thorough knowledge of broader financial institutions operations and control systems as well as in-depth knowledge of credit and credit operations. Knowledge and proficiency in the use of advanced quantitative tools and techniques such as credit scoring, financial forecasting, modelling and the use of economic capital methodologies and the risk analytic techniques used in sophisticated portfolio management will also be an advantage.

The experience required is…

  • A minimum of 5 years’ of experience within a financial institution or insolvency firm.
  • Experience working with high-risk customers preferred.
